TwitterAPIs MCP server
by TwitterAPIs
Lets your AI search X posts, read profiles and followers, and post or send messages for you.
This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to Twitter, now called X. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI in plain words to find posts, check an account, or even write a post for you. It is handy for anyone who works with social media, marketing, or research and does not want to fight with X's developer sign-up.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to Twitter and X through a service called TwitterAPIs, so your AI can look things up or do things there when you ask. You do not need an X developer account for most of it.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like find recent posts about your brand. The AI passes that request to this helper. The helper talks to TwitterAPIs, which fetches the data from X. Then you get the results back in your chat, as a list or a short summary. For posting or sending messages, the helper acts as an X account you have linked, so the action really happens on X.
What you can do with it
- Search X posts by keyword, date, or account
- Look up a profile, its followers, and who it follows
- Read a user's recent posts, replies, and media
- Check whether two accounts follow each other
- Post a tweet, reply, or quote-tweet
- Like, retweet, bookmark, or follow
- Send a direct message to a user
Try asking your AI
- “Find the most liked posts about our product from the last week”
- “Show me the profile and follower count for @someaccount”
- “Who are the verified followers of this account”
- “Post a tweet saying we just launched our new website”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in your chat, usually as a list of posts or accounts with their text, author, and numbers like likes and retweets. For write actions, you get a short confirmation that the post, like, or message was sent. Some tools also give you a cursor, which is a marker you can pass back to see the next page of results.
Before you start
What you need
- An API key from twitterapis.com (free sign-up gives you $0.50 in credit, no card needed)
- A linked X account session for private reads and most write actions (you can link it with cookies or a username and password)
- Node.js installed on your computer if you run it with npx
Good to know
Some actions can post publicly, send messages, or delete things, and most calls cost a small amount of money from your TwitterAPIs credit, so check before you let your AI run them.
