UnblockingAPI MCP server
by unblockingapi · official
Let your AI read pages that normally block it, and turn some sites into clean JSON.
This is a helper that lets your AI open web pages that usually say no to simple requests, and read them for you. It is handy if you often need to check a page, a search result or a listing site and want the content back in your chat. You can use it without installing anything, or run it yourself if you prefer.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you; it cannot go out and open a website by itself. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service. This one connects your AI to UnblockingAPI, a service that fetches web pages for you. So when you ask your AI to read a page, it asks this helper, the helper fetches the page, and the content comes back into your chat.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI to read a web page or look something up. Your AI passes the address to this helper. The helper sends it to UnblockingAPI, which picks plain fetching or a real browser depending on the site, and gets the page back. If a published template exists for that site, the helper can also turn the page into named fields (JSON) instead of raw text. You then see the page content or the structured result right in your chat.
What you can do with it
- Read pages that normally block simple requests
- Get a page back as clean Markdown or HTML
- Turn supported sites into structured JSON using a template
- Find out if a template exists for a site you are about to fetch
- Pick a country for the request, for example us or gb
- Ask for only part of a page with a CSS selector
- Re-read the same page for free within a short window
Try asking your AI
- “Read https://example.com/pricing and summarise the plans”
- “Get the Google results for wikipedia as JSON”
- “Is there a template for this site?”
- “What real estate sites can this parse into JSON?”
What it gives back to you
You get the page content back in your chat, usually as Markdown, sometimes as HTML, or as JSON when a template is used. Each answer starts with a small block of details like how long it took, whether a browser was used, and whether it came from cache. If a template fails because the site changed, you get the raw HTML back with a note instead of an error. If something is wrong with your key or credits, you get a clear message.
