APIFold MCP server builder

by Work90210

Turn an API description file into a ready MCP server so your AI can talk to apps like GitHub, Stripe, Slack and Notion.

APIFold takes a description of an online service (called an API spec) and turns it into an MCP server your AI can connect to. If you have ever wished your AI could actually fetch data or make changes in GitHub, Stripe, Slack or Notion, this is one way to get there. It is mostly for people who are comfortable running a command or two, or who can use the hosted website.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill or one new connection, in this case a connection to a service like GitHub, Stripe, Slack or Notion. APIFold builds that helper for you from a description file of the service, so you do not have to write any code. Once it is running, you just ask your AI in normal words and it uses this helper behind the scenes.

What this MCP server does

You give APIFold a description file of an online service, or pick one from its built-in list. APIFold reads that file and creates a small MCP server that knows how to talk to that service. You connect your AI to that server and ask it things in plain words. The AI sends the request through the server, the server makes the real call to the service, and the answer comes back into your chat. You can run it on your own computer with one command, or use the hosted website at apifold.dev.

What you can do with it

  • Start a local MCP server from a description file with one command
  • Use ready-made setups for GitHub, Stripe, Slack, HubSpot, Twilio, OpenAI, Notion and a test API
  • Connect Claude, Cursor or Copilot to the server you just made
  • Limit what the AI is allowed to do with Read Only, Read-Write or Full Access profiles
  • Store login details safely so the server can sign in to the service for you
  • See how often the server is used and how fast it responds
  • Use your own web address like mcp.yourcompany.com for the server

Try asking your AI

  • “List the open issues in my GitHub repo and summarise them”
  • “Show me the last five payments in Stripe”
  • “Post a message to the team channel in Slack saying the deploy is done”
  • “Look up a customer in Notion and tell me their plan”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in your normal chat: lists, short summaries, numbers, or confirmation that something was changed in the service. For example, if you ask for open issues, the AI replies with a tidy list and a short summary. If you ask it to post a message, it tells you it was sent. The exact wording depends on the service and on what you asked.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js installed on your computer if you want to run the command line tool
  • A description file of the service you want to connect (an OpenAPI or Swagger file), or pick one from the built-in list
  • Login details or a key for that service, so the server can sign in for you
  • An MCP-compatible AI app such as Claude Desktop or Cursor

Good to know

Once connected, the AI can make real changes in the service you linked, such as posting messages or creating records, so start with the Read Only access profile until you trust it.

Install it with your AI

Add APIFold MCP server builder to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check APIFold MCP server builder, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
