JVM MCP server
by xzq-xu
Lets your AI look at running Java programs: memory, threads, logs, and class details.

This is a helper that lets your AI peek inside Java programs running on a computer. It is made for people who work with Java apps and want quick answers about what those apps are doing. You do not need to be a Java expert to use it, but it helps if you know what a Java program is.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something else. This one connects your AI to Java programs running on your machine or on a remote server. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI questions about those Java programs and it will go look for the answers.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like which Java programs are running or how much memory one is using. The AI passes your question to this helper program. The helper runs standard Java tools that are already on your computer, like jps and jstack, to gather the information. Then it sends the results back to your AI, which explains them to you in the chat. It can also reach a remote server over SSH if the Java program is not on your own machine.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- List all Java programs running on a machine
- Check how much memory a Java program is using
- Look at the threads inside a Java program and their stack traces
- Read basic details about a Java program, like its version and start time
- See which classes are loaded and what they contain
- Search for a method inside a class and view its code
- Change the log level of a running Java program
Try asking your AI
- “Which Java programs are running on this machine right now?”
- “How much memory is the Java process with PID 12345 using?”
- “Show me the thread stack trace for that Java process”
- “Search for a method called processOrder in the class OrderService”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat, usually as lists or short summaries. For example, a list of Java programs with their process numbers, or a table of memory numbers, or a stack trace you can read. When you change a logger level, it tells you the change was made. Nothing is changed in your Java program unless you ask for it.
Before you start
What you need
- Python 3.6 or newer
- A Java Development Kit (JDK) version 8 or newer installed
- SSH access details if you want to monitor a Java program on a remote server
Good to know
Some tools can change settings in a running Java program, like the log level, so be careful when you ask for changes on a live system.
Install it with your AI
Add JVM MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check JVM MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Java developers, support engineers, and anyone who needs to check on running Java applications without opening a separate tool.
