AutoMobile MCP server
by zillow
Lets your AI drive and test Android apps on a phone or emulator for you.

AutoMobile is a helper that lets your AI work with Android apps: tapping buttons, reading what is on screen, and even writing and running tests. It was made by Zillow for developers and testers, and it is best suited to people who already build or test Android apps. Note that the original project is archived and no longer maintained, so it may not get updates.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another tool. This one connects your AI to Android devices, so it can look at what is on the screen and perform actions like tapping or typing. When you ask your AI to do something with an Android app, it passes the request to this helper, which talks to the phone or emulator.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI to do something with an Android app, like open it or check a screen. The AI sends that request to the AutoMobile helper running on your computer. The helper talks to your connected Android phone or emulator, performs the action, and reads back what is on screen. It can also write test code for you when you are in test authoring mode. Then it sends the result back to your AI, which explains it to you.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Open and close apps on an Android device
- Tap buttons, type text, and swipe on the screen
- Read what is currently shown on the screen
- Write automated tests for your Android app
- Run those tests on your computer or on a build server
- Manage more than one device or emulator at a time
Try asking your AI
- “Open the settings app and tell me what is on the screen”
- “Write a test that logs in and checks the home screen appears”
- “Tap the login button and type my username”
- “Run the tests for this Android project and show me the results”
What it gives back to you
You get back plain answers in the chat, like what is on the screen, whether an action worked, or a summary of test results. If it writes tests, it gives you the test code as files or text you can save. If it runs tests, it reports pass or fail with details. Everything shows up as normal chat messages from your AI.

Good to know
This helper can control your Android device, so it may tap, type, or change things on your phone or emulator, and it can run tests that affect your app.
