About Ultramemory
Ultramemory is a private, on-device memory tool for macOS that indexes emails, Slack messages, files, and screenshots into a single SQLite database. It lets you search that data with BM25 full-text search or, by connecting a local AI model via Ollama, ask questions that return answers with linked source citations. The tool runs entirely locally, requires no account or cloud service, and is free and open source under the MIT license.
Review
Ultramemory takes a locally-first approach to personal knowledge management. It collects and indexes text from several common work data sources, then allows both keyword search and AI-assisted querying. All processing stays on the user's Mac, and every answer comes with clickable references to the original files or messages.
Key Features
- Indexes emails, Slack threads, files, and screenshots (using OCR) into a unified SQLite database.
