mnemiq MCP server
Ask your database questions in plain English and get answers with the SQL shown, or an honest refusal.

mnemiq is a helper that lets your AI answer questions about your database in plain English. You type a question, and it writes the SQL, checks it, runs it, and shows you the result along with the query it used. It is handy for analysts and anyone who works with data but does not want to write SQL by hand.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to your database, so it can look things up and answer questions about your data when you ask. You do not need to know how it works inside; you just ask in normal words.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about your data, like how many customers are in each country. The AI passes that question to mnemiq. mnemiq looks at your database schema, writes a SQL query, checks that the query is safe and allowed, and runs it. Then it gives the answer back to your AI, along with the SQL it used and which tables it read. If the data cannot answer your question, it says so instead of making up a number.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Ask questions about your data in plain English
- See the SQL that was generated for each answer
- Get a clear refusal when the data cannot answer your question
- Check which tables were used to produce an answer
- Look up the structure of your database schema
- Use it with Postgres, SQLite, DuckDB, Oracle, Snowflake, or Databricks
Try asking your AI
- “How many customers are there by country?”
- “How many enterprise customers are there?”
- “What was our total revenue last quarter?”
- “Show me the schema of the database”
What it gives back to you
You get a plain answer in the chat, like a number or a short list. Along with it, you see the SQL query that was run and the tables it touched. If the question cannot be answered from the data, you get a clear reason instead of a guess.
Before you start
What you need
- A database you can connect to (Postgres, SQLite, DuckDB, Oracle, Snowflake, or Databricks)
- An OpenAI-compatible LLM endpoint (a web address for an AI model, plus a key if needed)
- Python and uv installed on your computer
- The mnemiq project files from GitHub
Good to know
It only reads data, never changes it, but it can see any table your role allows, so make sure the access rules are set correctly before connecting a real database.
Install it with your AI
Add mnemiq MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check mnemiq MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Data analysts, business analysts, and anyone who needs to ask questions about a database but does not write SQL.
