Proxy AIops MCP server

by AIops-tools

Lets your AI check and fix Traefik, Caddy, and HAProxy setups, with every action logged.

This is a helper that connects your AI to the reverse proxies and load balancers that sit in front of websites and apps: Traefik, Caddy, and HAProxy. It is handy if you look after web traffic, routes, or certificates and want your AI to check things for you instead of clicking through three different admin screens. Every action it takes gets written down in a log file, so you can see what happened later.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill or one new connection. This helper connects your AI to your Traefik, Caddy, or HAProxy setup, so when you ask a question about your routes or certificates, the AI can actually go and look. You install it once, point it at your proxies, and then just talk to your AI like normal.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like which routes are broken or which certificates are about to expire. The AI passes that request to this helper. The helper talks to your proxy's own admin interface, reads the answer, and hands it back. For some things, like changing a Caddy setting or draining a HAProxy server, it can also make the change for you, but only after showing you a preview first. Every single call, read or write, gets recorded in a log on your computer.

What you can do with it

  • List all routes across your proxies with their hosts and paths
  • Check which upstream servers are healthy or down
  • Sweep your TLS certificates and see which ones expire soon
  • Find the cause of a spike in 5xx errors
  • Spot shadowed routes, dead routes, and redirect loops
  • Preview a config change before it is applied
  • Undo a change by replaying the recorded inverse

What it gives back to you

You get back plain answers in the chat: lists of routes, services, or certificates, health summaries, and short explanations of what is likely wrong. For the RCA tools, you get the numbers behind the conclusion, not just a verdict. When you make a change, you get a confirmation of what was changed and a note that an undo entry was recorded.

Before you start

What you need

  • Python 3.10 or newer
  • The uv tool (or pipx) to install the package
  • Network access to your Traefik, Caddy, or HAProxy admin interface
  • The HAProxy Data Plane API password, or a Basic-auth password if your Traefik or Caddy uses one

Good to know

It can change or delete Caddy config and change HAProxy server state or weight, so use dry-run previews and check the audit log before trusting a write.

Install it with your AI

Add Proxy AIops MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
