SmarterDeck MCP server
by ajmessina
Turn a short prompt into a full slide deck, dashboard, and PDF, ready to download.
SmarterDeck is a helper that lets your AI build a complete presentation package from a single request. You describe what you want, and it hands back a PowerPoint file plus a few other formats you can open or share. It is handy for anyone who has to make decks for work but does not want to build every slide by hand.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another service. This one connects your AI to SmarterDeck, a service that builds presentations. So when you ask for a deck, your AI passes your request to SmarterDeck, and SmarterDeck does the actual building for you.
What this MCP server does
You type a request in plain words, like a topic, some numbers, and the style you want. Your AI sends that request to SmarterDeck through this connector. SmarterDeck builds a set of files: an editable PowerPoint, a web version, a dashboard, an infographic, and a PDF. It then sends back a small table in the chat with download links for each file. The links work for 60 minutes, so you should download what you need soon after.
What you can do with it
- Build a full slide deck from a short written prompt
- Get the same content in five formats at once (PowerPoint, web, dashboard, infographic, PDF)
- Pick a visual theme like corporate, minimal, financial, or bold
- Choose how many slides you want, from 3 to 15
- Ask for a dashboard with charts and key numbers
- Check how many generations you have left on your account
- See the list of available themes and their colors
Try asking your AI
- “Create a 5-slide executive expansion pitch for Q3 targeting enterprise retail clients. Use the financial theme and include revenue growth projections.”
- “Make a 6-slide deck about our new onboarding process for the sales team, using the corporate theme.”
- “Build a dashboard-style presentation with our quarterly KPIs and a clean minimal look.”
- “Turn this summary of our project into a short deck with the bold theme and 4 slides.”
What it gives back to you
You get a small table in the chat with download links for each file SmarterDeck built. That usually means an editable PowerPoint, an interactive web deck, a dashboard, an infographic, and a PDF. The links are temporary and stop working after 60 minutes. You can also ask for extra tables of the data used, if you want to see it.
Before you start
What you need
- A SmarterDeck account and API key from smarterdeck.com/dashboard
- The Claude desktop app or another AI tool that supports MCP servers
- Node.js installed on your computer if you use the manual setup
Good to know
The download links expire after 60 minutes, so save your files right away, and each generation uses up credits on your SmarterDeck account.
