CrossPaste MCP server
by CrossPaste · official
Let your AI search your clipboard history, read text from copied images, and add new clipboard items.

CrossPaste is a clipboard manager that keeps a history of everything you copy and shares it across your devices. This MCP server is the part that lets your AI assistant look inside that history. It is handy if you copy a lot during the day and want your AI to find or reuse things you copied earlier.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one extra skill or a connection to an app. This helper connects your AI to CrossPaste, your clipboard manager, so the AI can search what you copied, read text out of copied images, and add new items to your clipboard history. You just ask in normal words, and the AI uses this helper behind the scenes.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like find the link I copied this morning. The AI passes that request to this helper, which looks through your CrossPaste clipboard history on your own computer. If the item you want is an image, the helper can read the text inside it using the built-in OCR, which turns pictures of words into real text. The AI then tells you what it found, or adds a new item to your clipboard history if you asked for that.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Search your clipboard history by keyword or type
- Read the text inside a copied image or screenshot
- Add a new item to your clipboard history
- Find a link, color, or piece of text you copied earlier
- Pull up recently copied items across your devices
Try asking your AI
- “Search my clipboard history for anything with the word invoice”
- “What was the last link I copied?”
- “Read the text from the screenshot I copied a few minutes ago”
- “Add this address to my clipboard history: 12 Baker Street, London”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat, usually as a short list of matching items or a summary of what was found. For images, you get the text that was inside them. If you asked it to add something, it confirms the new item was saved to your clipboard history.
Before you start

Good to know
It can read your clipboard history, which may include private text, links, or images you copied, and it can add new items to that history.
Install it with your AI
Add CrossPaste MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check CrossPaste MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who copies and pastes a lot during the day, like writers, researchers, support staff, and developers who want their AI to dig through what they copied.
