Piston MCP server
by alvii147
Lets your AI run small pieces of code for you through the Piston code runner.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Piston, a service that runs code on demand. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to run a snippet of code and see the result right in the chat. It is handy for anyone who wants to test a quick bit of code without opening a coding program.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat and write text back to you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another service. This one connects your AI to Piston, a code running service, so the AI can send code there and bring back what happened. You stay in the chat; the helper does the running behind the scenes.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI to run a piece of code, in whatever language Piston supports. The AI hands that code to this helper, and the helper sends it to the Piston service. Piston runs the code and sends back the result, such as printed output or an error message. The AI then shows you that result in plain words in the chat.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Run a short piece of code and see what it prints
- Test a small calculation or formula
- Try out a snippet in a language you are learning
- Check what error a piece of code gives back
- Compare the output of two small code snippets
Try asking your AI
- “Run this Python code and tell me what it prints: print(sum(range(10)))”
- “Can you run this JavaScript snippet and show me the result?”
- “Try running this code and tell me if there is an error”
- “Run a quick loop that prints the numbers 1 to 5”
What it gives back to you
You get back the output of the code, shown as text in the chat. If the code printed something, you see those lines. If it failed, you see the error message instead. The AI can then explain what the result means in everyday words.
Before you start
What you need
- The uv tool installed on your computer (a small free program that runs Python tools)
- An MCP client such as the Claude desktop app
- Access to a Piston server that accepts your requests (the public one now needs an authorization token)
Good to know
The code you ask it to run is sent to a Piston server, so avoid sending private or sensitive information in your snippets.
Install it with your AI
Add Piston MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Piston MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who want to try small bits of code without opening a coding program, and anyone learning to program who wants quick feedback.
