Citation Intelligence MCP server
Check which URLs ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews cite for any query.

This is a small helper program that runs on your own computer and tells you which web pages AI search tools cite when someone asks them a question. You install it once, and then you can just ask your AI assistant things like "is my website cited for this topic?" and get a real answer. It is handy for anyone who writes online content, runs a small business site, or does SEO work and wants to know if AI tools are mentioning them.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI assistant can only chat with you using what it already learned. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something outside the chat. This one connects your AI to several AI search engines and search tools, so it can go and look up which pages those engines cite for a query. When you ask a question, your AI quietly uses this helper behind the scenes and brings the answer back into your chat.
What this MCP server does
You type a question in your AI chat, like which pages are cited for a certain search phrase. Your AI passes that question to this helper program running on your machine. The helper then asks the AI search engines you have set up (Perplexity, Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Bing or Brave) and collects the list of URLs each one cites. It compares them and tells you which pages show up across several engines, which is the stronger signal. You get the results right back in the chat as a list, a short summary, or a small report.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Check which URLs are cited for a query across several AI engines at once
- See whether your own domain is being cited, and for which search phrases
- Compare your page against the top cited competitor pages for a topic
- Predict how likely a page is to be cited, using public signals only, with no API keys needed
- Check whether AI crawlers like GPTBot or ClaudeBot are allowed to fetch your page
- Generate an llms.txt file from your sitemap
- Save a watchlist of queries and run it again later to see changes over time
Try asking your AI
- “For the queries best AI citation tracker and MCP for AI search, is mydomain.com cited?”
- “Which URLs do Perplexity and Google AI Overviews cite for the phrase best running shoes for flat feet?”
- “How likely is https://example.com/blog/post to be cited by AI tools?”
- “Compare my page against the top cited competitors for the query self-hosted SEO tools”
What it gives back to you
You get back a list of the URLs each engine cited, with the rank where they appeared and a short note about how reliable that engine's data is. For a domain check, you also get a summary like how many of your queries were cited and your average rank. Some tools return a small report or a Markdown file you can save. The prediction tool returns a score, a letter grade, and a list of suggested fixes for the page.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js 20 or newer installed on your computer
- An MCP-compatible app, like the Claude desktop app or Cursor
- API keys from the search services you want to use (each is a kind of password for apps; some are free, some are paid). You can start with just one or two.
Good to know
The paid engines (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) can cost you money each time you run a check, and results from API-based engines may differ from what people actually see in the consumer apps, so treat them as a rough guide rather than the exact truth.
