NBP Exchange Rates MCP server
by bartosz-kuc
Ask your AI for National Bank of Poland exchange rates, gold prices, and currency conversions to PLN.
This is a small helper program that connects your AI to the public exchange rate data of the National Bank of Poland (NBP). You can ask for a rate on a certain day, look at how a currency moved over a few months, or convert a foreign invoice into zloty. It is handy for anyone in Poland who deals with foreign currency invoices, especially JDG owners and accountants.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to the National Bank of Poland's public rate data, so the AI can look up rates and do conversions for you when you ask. You install it on your own computer, and it talks straight to the NBP website.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question in normal words, like what the euro rate was on a certain date. The AI passes that question to this helper program running on your machine. The helper then asks the National Bank of Poland's public website for the data. It gets the answer back and hands it to your AI, which explains it to you in the chat. For conversions, it also picks the right rate table and does the maths for you.
What you can do with it
- Look up the NBP rate for one currency on a chosen date or the latest one
- See the whole rate table for a day
- Check how a currency moved over a period of up to about a year
- Get the gold price in zloty per gram, latest or historical
- Convert an amount between currencies using the NBP mid-rate
- Convert a foreign invoice to PLN using the rate from the last business day before the invoice date
Try asking your AI
- “What was the NBP mid-rate for USD on 2026-03-14?”
- “Convert a 1240.50 EUR invoice dated 2026-07-15 to PLN”
- “How has EUR/PLN moved this quarter?”
- “What is the current gold price per gram in zloty?”
What it gives back to you
You get back clear answers in the chat: a rate with the date it applies to, a list of rates for a whole day, or a series of daily rates over a period. For a conversion you get the PLN amount, the rate that was used, and the date of the NBP table it came from. If the bank did not publish a rate that day, you get a clear message saying so, so you know to try the previous business day.
