Telebrief MCP server

by belaytzev

Let your AI read summaries and messages from your Telegram channels, without opening Telegram.

Telebrief is a small program you run yourself that reads your Telegram channels and writes short daily digests with the help of an AI. This page is about its MCP part, which lets your AI assistant ask Telebrief for those digests and messages directly. It is handy if you follow busy channels and want the highlights without scrolling.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app, and here it connects your AI to your own Telebrief setup. Once connected, your AI can ask Telebrief for the latest digest or for messages from one of your channels, and then talk about them with you. You do not need to copy and paste anything from Telegram.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about your Telegram channels. Your AI passes the question to this helper, which is your own Telebrief program running on your machine or server. Telebrief looks at the digests it already built and, if storage is turned on, at the messages it saved in its database. It sends the answer back, and your AI shows it to you in the chat.

What you can do with it

  • Get the last digest Telebrief prepared for you
  • Read the raw messages from one specific channel
  • Search your saved messages for a word or topic
  • Ask your AI to summarize what happened in a channel today
  • Compare what different channels said about the same event
  • Pull a list of recent messages with links back to Telegram

Try asking your AI

  • “What did my tech channels talk about today?”
  • “Show me the last digest Telebrief made.”
  • “Search my saved messages for anything about a new product launch.”
  • “Give me the recent messages from the Crypto News channel.”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in plain chat: a digest, a list of messages, or the result of a search. Each message usually comes with its channel name, the sender, the time and a link back to Telegram. If you asked for a summary, your AI writes it from the messages Telebrief handed over.

Before you start

What you need

  • Telebrief already set up and running (it needs Docker, Telegram app credentials, a bot token and an AI provider key)
  • Storage turned on in your Telebrief config if you want to search old messages
  • The MCP endpoint enabled in your Telebrief config
  • An AI assistant that can connect to MCP servers, like the Claude desktop app

Good to know

It reads your private Telegram channels and can save their messages to a local database, so keep the server and its files to yourself.

Install it with your AI

Add Telebrief MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Telebrief MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,609 MCP servers here for you.
