Capes MCP server
by Dipeshpal
Let your AI read and send your Gmail, manage your Discord, and search X, through a private server you own.
Capes is a small helper program you set up once on your own free Vercel account. It gives your AI assistant a way to work with your Gmail, Discord and X accounts. It is handy if you run a small community or business and want your AI to help with messages and posts without handing your passwords to a stranger.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. It cannot open your inbox or post in your Discord. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. Capes is that helper for Gmail, Discord and X, and it lives on your own Vercel account, so the AI can look things up or do things there when you ask.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question in plain words, like what is new in your inbox. The AI uses Capes to talk to Gmail, Discord or X for you. Capes checks your secret key and your limits first, then does the action. You get the answer back in the chat, as a list or a summary. If you asked it to send or change something, it tells you what it did.
What you can do with it
- Search and read your Gmail with normal Gmail search words
- Draft, send, reply to and forward emails
- Read and post messages in your Discord channels
- Manage Discord threads, roles, reactions and files
- Search recent tweets about a topic on X
- Send Telegram messages and check recent chat updates
- Turn off any tool or make the whole server read-only
Try asking your AI
- “Give me a briefing: unread customer emails from the last day and unanswered questions in #support”
- “Draft replies to the billing emails and show me before you send”
- “What are people saying about our product on X this week”
- “List my Discord channels and tell me which ones are quiet”
What it gives back to you
You get answers right in the chat, like a short list of emails with their subjects and senders, or a summary of what people said on X. It can also show you drafts it wrote for you before anything is sent. When it changes something, like sending a message or archiving an email, it tells you what it did. Nothing happens without your say-so if you keep the read-only switch on.
Before you start
What you need
- A free Vercel account (this is where your server lives)
- A free Postgres database, for example from Supabase (this stores your passwords safely)
- Credentials for the services you want: a Gmail app password, a Discord bot token, or an Apify token for X
- About 20 minutes to set it up the first time
Good to know
It can send emails, post in Discord and delete messages, so keep the read-only switch on until you trust it, and always check drafts before sending.
Install it with your AI
