Browser MCP server
by browsermcp
Lets your AI open pages and click around in your own Chrome browser, using your normal logged-in profile.

Browser MCP is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to your own Chrome browser. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to open a page, click a button or fill in a form, and it does that in the browser you already use. It is handy for anyone who repeats the same web chores, like checking a site or copying details into a form.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to your local Chrome browser, so it can look at pages and do things there when you ask. Because it runs on your own computer and uses your normal browser profile, you stay logged in to the sites you already use.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something that involves a website, like opening a page or clicking a link. The AI passes that request to this helper, which is running on your computer. The helper then talks to a small Chrome extension in your browser and performs the action in a tab. When it is done, the result comes back to the chat so you can see what happened or ask for the next step. Everything happens locally, so your browsing activity stays on your machine.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Open a web page in your Chrome browser
- Click buttons and links on a page
- Fill in forms with details you give it
- Read what is on a page and report back
- Move through several pages in one request
- Work inside sites where you are already logged in
Try asking your AI
- “Open my company intranet and tell me if there is a new announcement”
- “Go to the supplier portal, log in with my saved session, and download last month's invoice”
- “Fill in the contact form on this page with my name and email, then stop before sending”
- “Check the status of my order on this shop site and summarise it for me”
What it gives back to you
You get answers and short summaries in the chat, plus confirmation of what the AI did in the browser, like which page it opened or which button it clicked. If it read something from a page, it can quote or summarise that text for you. You can also watch the browser tab yourself while it works, so you always see the real page.
Before you start
What you need
- Google Chrome installed on your computer
- The Browser MCP Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store
- An AI app that supports MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code or Windsurf
- Node.js installed if you plan to run the server with npx
Good to know
It acts inside your real browser with your logged-in accounts, so it can click, submit or change things on sites you are signed in to, and you should watch what it does.
Install it with your AI
Add Browser MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Browser MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Office workers who spend time on the same websites every day and want their AI to handle the clicking, filling and checking for them.
