Verilex Data MCP server

by carrierone

Lets your AI look up paid datasets like NPI healthcare, SEC filings, sanctions, crypto whales and patents.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Find NPI records for a doctor named Maria Lopez in Texas”, the Verilex Data MCP server connects it to Verilex Data, and you get back records shown in your chat.

This is a helper for your AI that connects it to Verilex Data, a service that holds 20 ready-made datasets. You pay only for the lookups you actually make, and there are free sample and stats endpoints to try first. It is handy if you work with company, healthcare, crypto or court data and want answers without building anything yourself.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to Verilex Data, so when you ask a question it can go and fetch real records from there. You just ask in plain words, and the helper does the fetching behind the scenes.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like which healthcare providers match a name, or what a company filed with the SEC. The AI sends that request through this helper, which talks to the Verilex Data service over the internet. Verilex looks it up in its datasets and sends the records back. Your AI then shows you the answer in the chat, in a form you can read. For paid lookups, the service charges a small amount per query using USDC on the Base chain.

What you can do with it

  • Look up US healthcare providers in the NPI dataset
  • Check SEC EDGAR filings for a company
  • Screen a crypto wallet or name against OFAC sanctions
  • Track high-balance crypto wallets and token holders
  • See Polymarket smart money and arbitrage signals
  • Search US patent grants and federal contracts
  • Pull economic indicators from FRED

Try asking your AI

  • “Find NPI records for a doctor named Maria Lopez in Texas”
  • “What did Apple file with the SEC in the last 30 days”
  • “Is this wallet address on the OFAC sanctions list”
  • “Show me the latest Polymarket smart money signals”

What it gives back to you

You get back lists of records, short summaries, numbers and answers drawn from the dataset you asked about. For example, a provider search returns matching names, locations and identifiers, and a sanctions check returns a yes or no with details. Paid responses also tell you how fresh the data is, so you know if it was just updated. Everything shows up right in the chat, like a normal reply from your AI.

Before you start

What you need

  • An MCP client like Claude Desktop, VS Code or Cursor
  • Node.js installed so npx can run the server
  • A VERILEX_PAYMENT_TOKEN if you want to use paid endpoints (free stats and samples work without one)

Good to know

Paid lookups cost real money in USDC on the Base chain, so keep an eye on how many queries your AI runs.
