iOS Agent MCP server

by emazaheri

Let your AI tap, type and read screens on an iPhone or iOS Simulator for you.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Turn Wi-Fi off and tell me if it worked”, the iOS Agent MCP server keeps repeating: looks at the screen, picks what to tap, taps or types, checks the new screen, and you get back plain updates in your chat.

This is a helper that lets your AI actually use an iPhone or an iPhone Simulator on a Mac. You say what you want in plain words, like turn on bold text, and it taps through the settings for you. It is handy if you test apps, check settings, or want to automate a repetitive phone task.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to an iPhone or iOS Simulator, so the AI can look at the screen and tap things there for you when you ask. You stay in charge: anything risky asks you first.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI for something on the phone, like turn off Wi-Fi. The AI uses this helper to look at the current screen in a short, readable form. Then it picks an element, like a switch or a button, and taps it. The helper sends back the new screen so the AI can check it worked. If the action is something like Send, Pay or Delete, it stops and asks you before doing it.

What you can do with it

  • Open apps and settings on a simulator or a tethered iPhone
  • Tap buttons, switches and menu items by name
  • Type text into fields on the screen
  • Read the current screen as a short digest
  • Scroll lists and read details further down
  • Switch between a phone and a simulator mid-session
  • Ask you for approval before anything destructive

Try asking your AI

  • “Turn on bold text in Settings”
  • “Open Maps and check the driving time to the airport”
  • “Turn Wi-Fi off and tell me if it worked”
  • “Scroll through the list and read me the third item”

What it gives back to you

You get short, plain updates in the chat: what the screen looks like now, what the AI tapped, and whether the screen changed. It can also give you a summary of what it did and a saved audit trail of the session. Numbers like actions, observations and cost stay on screen while the run goes.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Mac with Xcode 16.3 or newer and an iOS runtime
  • Python 3.12 or newer and the uv tool
  • WebDriverAgent built once (the quickstart does this for you)
  • For a real iPhone: go-ios, Developer Mode and a signing identity

Good to know

It can change settings and tap buttons on a real phone, so anything like Send, Pay, Delete or reaching another person asks you first, and without an approver those actions are refused.
