YouTube Kit MCP server
by eukosh
Let your AI check your YouTube channel stats, upload videos, edit details, and manage comments and playlists.
This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to YouTube. It lets the AI look up public YouTube info and work on your own channels, like checking views, uploading a video, or sorting comments. It is handy if you run a YouTube channel and want to get things done by just asking.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to YouTube, so it can look things up or do things there for you when you ask. You set it up once, and then your AI can use it whenever a YouTube task comes up.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something about YouTube, like which videos did well this month or what comments are waiting for review. The AI uses this helper to talk to YouTube on your behalf. The helper checks your channel data or makes the change you asked for. Then it sends the answer back, and your AI shows it to you in the chat.
What you can do with it
- See your top videos by views for any time period
- Read transcripts of your videos
- Upload a new video with a title and description
- Update video details like title, description, or thumbnail
- List comments that are held for review or marked as spam
- Approve, reply to, or delete comments
- Create and manage playlists
- Search public YouTube for videos, channels, and playlists
Try asking your AI
- “Which of my videos got the most views this month?”
- “Are any comments waiting for review on my channel?”
- “Upload this video file with the title 'My new tutorial'”
- “Show me the transcript of my latest video”
What it gives back to you
You get clear answers in the chat, like a list of your top videos with view counts, or a list of comments waiting for review. If you ask for a transcript, it shows the text. If you ask to upload or change something, it tells you when it is done or what went wrong.
Before you start
What you need
- A Google account with a YouTube channel
- The uv tool installed (a way to run Python programs; the README shows how)
- About 5 minutes for a one-time Google Cloud setup (the tool walks you through it)
Good to know
This tool can delete videos, playlists, comments, and captions, so be careful and use the two-step confirmation to avoid mistakes.
Install it with your AI
