Flipt MCP server

by flipt-io

Lets your AI look up and change feature flags in Flipt for you, in plain chat.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Is the new checkout flag turned on?”, the Flipt MCP server connects it to Flipt, and you get back A plain answer in chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Flipt, a tool teams use to turn features on and off in their software. Once it is set up, you can just ask your AI things like which flags are on or what a flag is set to, instead of clicking around the Flipt website. It is handy for anyone who works with feature flags but does not want to memorize the Flipt menus.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Flipt, so the AI can look up flags and make changes there when you ask. You do not need to understand how it works inside; you just add it once and then talk to your AI like normal.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question about your feature flags, for example which flags exist or what a flag is set to. The AI passes your request to this helper. The helper talks to your Flipt server using the address and login details you gave it. Flipt sends back the answer, and the AI shows it to you in the chat, in normal words. If you ask it to change something, the helper makes that change in Flipt and tells you what it did.

What you can do with it

  • List the feature flags in your Flipt project
  • Check whether a specific flag is on or off
  • Look up the rules and settings behind a flag
  • Turn a flag on or off
  • Create a new flag
  • Update a flag's details
  • Delete a flag you no longer need

Try asking your AI

  • “Which feature flags do we have right now?”
  • “Is the new checkout flag turned on?”
  • “Turn off the holiday banner flag”
  • “Create a flag called new-signup and leave it off”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in plain chat: a list of flags, a simple yes or no for whether a flag is on, or the details behind a flag. When you ask for a change, it tells you what it changed, like that a flag is now off. Everything shows up as normal text in the conversation, not as code or files.

Before you start

What you need

Good to know

It can change or delete feature flags in Flipt, so be careful when you ask it to make changes.
