Mission MCP proxy

by gomission

Puts a checkpoint in front of your AI's risky tool calls and saves exactly what it wanted to do.

Mission is a small helper that sits between your AI assistant and the other tools it can use. When your AI wants to do something with real consequences, like sending an email or changing a record, Mission pauses that action and writes down exactly what was about to happen so a person can look at it. It is handy if you let your AI touch real work and want a safety net, not just a promise.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another app. This one is a checkpoint helper: it stands in front of your other tool connections and watches what your AI is about to do. When a call looks risky, it holds it and records the exact action instead of letting it run.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI to do something, like send a message or update a record. Your AI turns that into a tool call, and Mission looks at it before it reaches the real app. If the call looks low risk, it may pass through. If it looks consequential or Mission is not sure, Mission stops it and writes a receipt with the action, the target, a fingerprint of the input, and an expiry. You then review that receipt. A chat message saying approve is never treated as permission to run it.

What you can do with it

  • Hold risky tool calls before they reach the real app
  • Save a receipt showing exactly what your AI tried to do
  • Fingerprint the input so you can tell if it changed
  • Attach an expiry and a one-time use marker to each hold
  • Wrap selected tool connections and fail closed if one is missing
  • Run a demo with a fake email provider to see the boundary in action
  • Check your Claude Desktop setup with a verify command

Try asking your AI

  • “Send an email to the whole team about the schedule change”
  • “Delete the old customer records from last year”
  • “Update the pricing field on every product”
  • “Run the demo to show me how the hold works”

What it gives back to you

You get a local receipt file, not a finished action. The receipt lists the action class, which tool asked for it, the target when Mission can figure it out, a fingerprint of the input, the expiry, and a one-time use marker. In the chat you mostly see that the call was held, and you go look at the receipt to decide what to do next.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js 20 or newer
  • The Claude desktop app if you want the installer to set it up there
  • A folder you are happy to keep receipts in, since they can contain a summary of the arguments

Good to know

It can pause and record your AI's actions, and the receipts can contain a summary of the arguments, so treat that receipt folder as private and sensitive.

Install it with your AI

Add Mission MCP proxy to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Mission MCP proxy, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,361 MCP servers here for you.
