fable Recall MCP server
by grooverLab
Lets your AI search and quote your real past Claude Code conversations, kept in a local file on your machine.

fable is a small helper that saves and searches everything you have ever talked about with Claude Code. Normally Claude forgets older parts of a chat, and after about 30 days the files get deleted. fable keeps a copy on your own computer so your AI can look things up again. It is handy if you work on long projects and want to remember why you made a decision weeks ago.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat about what is in front of it right now. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one extra skill. This helper connects your AI to your saved Claude Code history, which is stored in a file on your computer. So when you ask a question, the AI can quietly search those old conversations and bring back the real words you used.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like what did we decide about login last month. Your AI uses this helper to search your saved conversations on your machine. The helper finds the matching threads and hands the real text back, not a summary. Your AI then answers you using those actual words from before. It can also save a fact you want it to keep, like a standing rule for future sessions.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Search your past Claude Code conversations by topic
- Pull up the exact words from an old thread, not a summary
- Remember a standing rule across future sessions
- Look up the edit history of a file across sessions
- Find which conversation made a particular change
- Keep your history safe before Claude deletes it
Try asking your AI
- “What did we decide about authentication last month?”
- “When did this function break and what did we change?”
- “Show me the conversation where we picked this database.”
- “Remember that we only deploy on Fridays.”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat that quote your real past conversations, with the actual wording you used. It can also give you lists of matching threads, a file's edit history, or a short summary of what changed. When you ask it to remember something, it just confirms it saved the fact.
