InfluxDB MCP server
by idoru
Lets your AI read and write data in your InfluxDB database and run queries for you.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to an InfluxDB database. InfluxDB is a place where lots of time-based numbers get stored, like sensor readings or server stats. If you or your team keep data there, this lets you ask questions about it in plain English instead of writing database queries yourself.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program you connect to it that gives it a new skill. This one gives your AI a connection to your InfluxDB database, so it can look things up or make changes there when you ask. You set it up once, and after that your AI just uses it in the background.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question in normal words, like how many readings came in yesterday. The AI turns that into a query and sends it to this helper. The helper talks to your InfluxDB database, gets the answer, and hands it back. Your AI then explains the result to you in the chat. It can also write new data in and create new buckets or organizations if you ask.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- List the organizations and buckets in your database
- Run queries and get numbers or tables back
- Write new data points into a bucket
- Create a new bucket with a set retention time
- Create a new organization
- List the measurements inside a bucket
- Get help writing queries with built-in examples
Try asking your AI
- “List all the buckets in my InfluxDB”
- “How many readings did we get in the last 24 hours?”
- “Write this temperature reading into the sensors bucket”
- “Create a new bucket called logs that keeps data for 30 days”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat, usually as a short summary plus a table or list of values. For queries, the AI shows the rows that came back. When it writes data or creates a bucket or organization, it tells you what it did. Everything stays in the conversation, so you can ask follow-up questions.
Before you start
What you need
- An InfluxDB v2 database you can reach (often running on your own machine or a server)
- An InfluxDB authentication token (a kind of password for the database)
- The URL of your InfluxDB instance, if it is not on your own computer
- Node.js installed if you want to run it with npx or npm
Good to know
This can write new data and create buckets or organizations in your database, so double-check before letting it make changes.
Install it with your AI
Add InfluxDB MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check InfluxDB MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who already keep data in InfluxDB and want to ask questions about it without writing queries by hand.
