Shikamaru MCP server
by JayOfemi
Lets your AI do exact day-count and interest math instead of guessing dates and numbers.

Shikamaru is a small helper that does date and money math for you, the kind used in finance. It counts days between dates using market rules, checks business days and holidays, and works out simple accrued interest. It is handy if you deal with loans, bonds, settlement dates, or payment schedules and you want the exact number, not a guess.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot reliably count days or remember which days are holidays. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill. This one gives your AI the skill of doing finance date math, so when you ask about a settlement date or interest amount, it gets the real answer from Shikamaru instead of making one up.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about dates or interest. The AI passes the details to Shikamaru through this helper. Shikamaru applies the market rule you named, like 30/360 or ACT/365F, and checks the right holiday calendar. It sends back the exact number or date, and your AI shows it to you in the chat.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Count the day-count fraction between two dates under seven market rules
- Work out simple accrued interest from a notional, a rate, and a period
- Check if a date is a business day on a given calendar
- Move a date forward or back to the next business day using ISDA rules
- Add business days for T+N settlement
- Build a payment schedule with monthly to annual periods and stubs
Try asking your AI
- “What is the day-count fraction from 2003-11-01 to 2004-05-01 using ACT/ACT ISDA?”
- “Is 2024-06-19 a business day on the NYSE calendar?”
- “Move 2024-03-29 forward using modified-following on the TARGET calendar.”
- “Build a semiannual payment schedule from 2024-01-15 to 2026-01-15 on the TARGET calendar.”
What it gives back to you
You get back a plain answer in the chat, like a number, a date, or a short list of dates. For a schedule, you get each period with its unadjusted and adjusted dates. The helper also sends the same result as structured data, so the AI can use the numbers directly without reading them out of text.
Before you start

Good to know
It only calculates dates and numbers, it does not change anything in your accounts, but always double-check the convention and calendar you picked match your contract.
