This is a small helper that connects your AI to a long list of cryptocurrency news feeds. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI for the latest headlines or for a summary of what is happening in the market, and it will go read the feeds for you. It is handy if you follow crypto news for work and do not want to open twenty websites every morning.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill or one new connection. This one connects your AI to cryptocurrency RSS feeds, which are the standard way news sites publish their latest articles. With it connected, your AI can go and read those feeds when you ask, instead of you copying and pasting articles into the chat.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like what is new in crypto today. Your AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper then fetches the latest entries from the RSS feeds you point it at, usually the ten most recent items per feed. It turns them into a tidy list with titles, links, dates and short summaries, and hands that back to your AI. Your AI then reads it and answers you in the chat, or writes a summary of the trends it sees.

What you can do with it

  • List the cryptocurrency feeds available in a feed list file
  • Filter that feed list by a keyword like research or media
  • Fetch the latest ten entries from any single feed
  • Get titles, links, dates and short summaries for each entry
  • Ask your AI to summarize the key points across a feed
  • Ask your AI to spot trends in the cryptocurrency market from the news

Try asking your AI

  • “List the cryptocurrency RSS feeds you have available”
  • “Show me the feeds about research or venture capital”
  • “Read this feed and give me the latest ten posts: https://blog.0xproject.com/feed”
  • “Analyze this feed and summarize the key points and any market trends: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/feed”

What it gives back to you

You get back a clean list of news items: the title, a link, the publish date and a short summary for each one. If you asked for a feed list, you get the feed names, their web addresses and a short description, grouped by category. If you asked for an analysis, your AI writes a summary of the main points and any trends it noticed. Everything shows up as normal text in your chat window.

Before you start

What you need

  • Python version 3.10
  • The uv tool, which installs and runs Python programs
  • The Claude desktop app if you want to add it there
  • A feed list file, such as the one from Chainfeeds, if you want to browse feeds by category

Good to know

It only reads public news feeds, so it does not change anything or touch your private files, but the news it pulls is written by others and can be wrong or biased, so check important facts yourself.
