Compound MCP server
by kyisaiah47
Lets your AI look up fresh facts like current AI model prices, tool maintenance and city website grades.

Compound MCP is a small helper that gives your AI a set of look-up tools for facts that go out of date. It is made by Compound Labs and it answers questions like what a model costs today, whether a library is still maintained, or how a city website scored on accessibility. It is handy if you use ChatGPT or Claude for research and want answers based on live public data instead of whatever the model memorised months ago.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat using what it already learned. An MCP server is a small helper program you connect to your AI, and it gives the AI one new skill or a link to a service. This one, Compound MCP, connects your AI to a set of live public data sources, so when you ask about current prices or a city website, the AI can go and look it up instead of guessing. You do not need an account or a key, it just plugs in and answers.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question, for example which AI model is cheapest right now. The AI passes your question to this helper, and the helper reads the live data behind that topic. It then hands the answer back to your AI, which explains it to you in the chat. Every tool here only reads, it does not change anything anywhere. So you get a fresh, sourced answer rather than a guess from old training data.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Compare current AI model prices and see which coding tools use which models
- Check whether a developer tool is still being updated or looks abandoned
- Look up published pricing and free tiers for auth, database, payments, email and hosting services
- Estimate a monthly bill for a named stack at a chosen number of users
- Search published Claude Code skills, plugins and marketplaces by installs
- Search real AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md and Cursor config files from public projects
- Look up a US city or local government website's accessibility grade, or a nonprofit's tax status
Try asking your AI
- “Which AI model should I use for a coding agent on a budget?”
- “Is the library I am about to add still maintained?”
- “What would my stack cost per month for 500 users?”
- “Is the city website at 36thdistrictcourtmi.gov ADA compliant?”
What it gives back to you
You get back a short, structured answer in the chat: a ranked list of models with prices, a maintenance summary with last release and last commit, an itemised monthly cost, a grade with violation counts, or a clear or not-clear status for a nonprofit. Each answer usually carries the date it was captured or checked, so you know how fresh it is. Where a question cannot be settled, it says unknown instead of guessing. The AI then explains it to you in normal words.
Before you start
What you need
- The Claude desktop app or another app that can use MCP servers
- Node.js installed on your computer (the free program that runs this helper)
- Nothing else, there is no signup and no API key
Good to know
These tools only read public data, so they cannot change or delete anything, but the answers are only as current as the sources they read, and each result tells you the date it was checked.
Install it with your AI
Add Compound MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Compound MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Developers, technical writers and anyone who researches tools, prices or public data and wants answers that are current rather than remembered.
