artifact-site MCP server
by lexmount
Publish, search, read and update your AI's pages and documents as shareable links.
artifact-site is a place to keep the pages and documents your AI makes, instead of losing them in chat histories or random folders. It turns them into links you can share, and lets your AI keep editing and updating them later. It is handy if you use AI tools to produce reports, dashboards or web pages and want one tidy home for all of it.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another service. This one connects your AI to artifact-site, so it can publish a page, find an old document, or update something you shared earlier. You just ask in normal words, and the helper does the clicking for you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI to publish something, like a report or a folder of web files. The AI passes that request to this helper, which sends the files to your artifact-site workspace. artifact-site stores them, gives each one a link, and keeps a version history. Later you can ask your AI to search for a page by its content, read the text back, or replace it with a newer version at the same address.
What you can do with it
- Publish an HTML page, a build folder, a ZIP or a PDF and get a share link
- Search your published pages and documents by their content
- Read the text of a page you published earlier
- Update a published page so the same link shows the new version
- Change who can open a link, or turn sharing off
- List past versions of a page and roll back to an older one
- Delete a page you no longer need
Try asking your AI
- “Publish this project's output to artifact-site and give me the link”
- “Find the report I published last month that mentions quota”
- “Update my Q3 dashboard page with this new version, keep the same link”
- “Read back the text of my onboarding page so I can check it”
What it gives back to you
You get back links you can copy and send to people, plus short confirmations that a page was published, updated or deleted. When you search or read, you get the matching page names and the text inside them. Version history comes back as a list you can pick from. Everything shows up as normal chat messages, not files you have to open separately.
Before you start
What you need
- An artifact-site workspace, either the cloud version or one you run yourself
- The web address of your artifact-site server
- Sign-in through the server's own page (OAuth) for ChatGPT, Claude or similar clients, or a personal token for other clients
- Node.js 24 or newer only if you use the command-line tool instead of the remote connection
Good to know
The AI can publish, change and delete your pages, and publishing through the command line or MCP makes a public link by default, so check the sharing setting before you send anything out.
Install it with your AI
Add artifact-site MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check artifact-site MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,609 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who uses AI to make reports, dashboards or web pages and needs a simple shared place to keep and share them, especially small teams and people who write documentation.
