This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to live tennis data. Once it is set up, you can just ask questions in plain words and get real answers about matches, players and rankings. It is handy for tennis fans, writers, and anyone who follows the tour closely.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat using what it already learned. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to the Live Tennis API, a service that keeps real-time tennis information. So when you ask about a match, your AI can look it up there and tell you what is actually happening.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question about tennis, like who is playing right now. Your AI passes that question to this helper program running quietly in the background. The helper talks to the Live Tennis API and asks for the matching information. The API sends back the scores, players, or rankings, and the helper hands them to your AI. Your AI then writes the answer for you in the chat, in normal sentences.

What you can do with it

  • Check which tennis matches are live right now
  • Look up a player's profile, ranking and country
  • See upcoming fixtures and forward schedules
  • Search tournaments by surface, location or category
  • Get completed match results and winners
  • Look up head-to-head records between two players
  • See match-winner odds and model win probability

Try asking your AI

  • “What tennis matches are live right now?”
  • “Who is winning the Alcaraz match, and what does the model give him?”
  • “Show me Sinner's ranking and recent results.”
  • “What is the all-time head-to-head between Borg and McEnroe?”

What it gives back to you

You get back plain answers in the chat: lists of matches with scores, player profiles, rankings, fixture schedules, or head-to-head records. Some answers include numbers like odds or win probability. The helper also tells you clearly when something needs a higher plan, instead of guessing. Nothing is changed anywhere, because every tool only reads information.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Live Tennis API key (a free one is available, no card needed)
  • Node.js 20 or newer installed on your computer
  • An MCP client like Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor or Zed

Good to know

It only reads data, so it cannot change anything, but some answers need a paid plan and the free plan allows only 100 requests a day.
