mq-bridge MCP server

by marcomq

Let your AI move data between databases, queues, and files without the rows ever passing through the chat.

mq-bridge is a tool that moves data between places: databases, message queues, files, and web addresses. It also works as an MCP server, which means your AI assistant can set up and run those data moves for you. It is handy if you often copy data from one system to another and want to describe the job in plain words instead of writing a script.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to mq-bridge, a data-moving tool. So when you ask your AI to copy data from one place to another, it can tell mq-bridge to do it, and the actual rows of data never pass through the chat.

What this MCP server does

You describe the move you want, for example from a Postgres table to a file, or from Kafka to RabbitMQ. Your AI uses this helper to start a route with the source and destination you gave it. The helper connects to both sides and moves the data. You get back a short status, like how many rows moved and whether it finished. The data itself stays out of the chat, which keeps things fast and private.

What you can do with it

  • Copy rows from a SQL database to a file
  • Move messages from Kafka to RabbitMQ
  • Run a one-off data copy and stop when done
  • Check the status of a running route
  • Bridge traffic between two message systems
  • Filter rows while copying, for example only amounts over 100
  • Resume a copy from where it left off

Try asking your AI

  • “Copy all rows from my Postgres table called orders into a file called orders.jsonl”
  • “Move messages from my Kafka topic to a RabbitMQ queue”
  • “Run a copy from MongoDB to a file and only keep records where status is active”
  • “Show me the status of the route I started earlier”

What it gives back to you

You get short answers in the chat: how many rows were moved, whether the job finished, or any error message. It does not paste the actual data into the chat. If you asked for a status, you get a small table or a sentence. The heavy data stays on your machine or between the systems.

Before you start

What you need

  • The mq-bridge app installed on your computer (the CLI or desktop app)
  • Access details for the systems you want to connect, like a database address or a queue address
  • An AI assistant that supports MCP, such as Claude Desktop or Cursor

Good to know

It can move or overwrite data in the systems you connect, so double-check the source and destination before you run a copy.

Install it with your AI

Add mq-bridge MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check mq-bridge MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,609 MCP servers here for you.
