mctl MCP server
by mctlhq
Lets your AI manage Kubernetes services, databases, and logs for you in plain language.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to mctl, a service that looks after Kubernetes and GitOps setups. Instead of clicking around dashboards, you describe what you want and the AI does it through mctl. It is handy for people who run or help run cloud services and want less manual work.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to mctl, which manages Kubernetes and GitOps for you. Once it is connected, the AI can look things up and make changes in mctl when you ask.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like checking a service or adding a database. The AI passes that request to the mctl MCP server. The server talks to mctl, which handles the Kubernetes and GitOps work behind the scenes. Then you get the result back in the chat, like a status, a log, or a confirmation that something was set up.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Check the status of your services
- Provision a new database
- View logs from your running services
- Manage Kubernetes resources through conversation
- Ask about your GitOps setup
- Create or update services
Try asking your AI
- “Show me the status of my services”
- “Create a new Postgres database for my app”
- “Pull the last 50 log lines from the checkout service”
- “What is my current GitOps setup doing”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat, like lists of services, short status summaries, log lines, or a note that a change was made. Some actions create or update things, and the AI tells you what it did. It is all shown as normal text in the conversation.
Before you start
What you need
- An mctl account (sign up at mctl.ai)
- Access to the mctl MCP setup page to connect it
Good to know
This can create and change things in your Kubernetes setup, so review what the AI is about to do before you confirm.
Install it with your AI
Add mctl MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check mctl MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who run or help run cloud services on Kubernetes, like DevOps engineers, platform teams, and developers who want to manage things by chatting.
