by mobb-dev · official

Lets your AI check the code changes you just made and suggest fixes for security problems it finds.

Mobb Vibe Shield is a helper that connects your AI assistant to Mobb, a service that finds and fixes security problems in code. It is handy if you write code (or your AI writes code for you) and you want a quick safety check before you save or share it. You do not need to be a security expert to use it.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to Mobb, so when you ask about your code, the AI can send your recent changes to Mobb and bring back a report with suggested fixes. You stay in the chat the whole time.

What this MCP server does

You make some changes to code on your computer and save them in a git project (git is a tool that tracks changes to files). You then ask your AI to check your code for security problems. The AI uses this helper to send your changed files to Mobb. Mobb looks at them and sends back a list of issues with suggested code fixes and short explanations. Your AI shows you that list right in the chat.

What you can do with it

  • Check the code changes you just made for security problems
  • Get suggested fixes with code you can copy into your files
  • Read short explanations of why each issue matters
  • Run the check without leaving your AI chat
  • Review fixes before you commit or share your code

Try asking your AI

  • “Can you check my code for security vulnerabilities?”
  • “Run a scan with mobb-mcp on my current project”
  • “Use the fix-vulnerabilities tool on this repo and show me the results”
  • “I just changed some files, can you see if there are any security issues?”

What it gives back to you

You get a list of security issues found in your changed files. Each one comes with a suggested code fix and a short explanation of the problem. It all appears as text in your chat, so you can read it and decide what to apply. Nothing is changed in your files unless you do it yourself.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Mobb API key (a kind of password for apps; you get one free by signing up at app.mobb.ai)
  • A git project on your computer with some changed, added, or staged files
  • Node.js installed so you can run npx commands
  • An AI assistant that supports MCP servers, like Cursor or Claude Desktop

Good to know

Your changed code files are uploaded to Mobb for analysis, so avoid running it on files that contain passwords, secret keys, or private information.
