Nano Banana MCP server

by nanana-app

Let your AI create new images or change existing ones using the Nano Banana image model.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Make a picture of a friendly robot watering plants”, the Nano Banana MCP server connects it to Nano Banana, and you get back your new image.

This is a small helper that lets your AI make pictures. You describe what you want, and it creates the image or changes a picture you already have. It is handy for anyone who needs quick visuals without opening a design app.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you in words. An MCP server is a little helper program that gives your AI a new skill. This helper connects your AI to the Nanana image service, which uses Google Gemini's nano banana model. So when you ask for a picture, your AI can actually go and make one for you.

What this MCP server does

You type a request in plain words, like asking for a picture of a cat in a hat. Your AI passes that request to this helper. The helper sends it to the Nanana service, which creates the image. Then the result comes back into your chat so you can see it. It can also take pictures you already have and change them based on what you ask.

What you can do with it

  • Create a brand new image from a written description
  • Turn one of your existing images into a different style, like a painting
  • Change up to nine images at once with one instruction
  • Get quick visuals for a document, slide, or message
  • Try out different looks by describing them in words

Try asking your AI

  • “Generate an image of a cozy reading nook with a warm lamp”
  • “Make a picture of a friendly robot watering plants”
  • “Transform this image to look like a watercolor painting: https://example.com/photo.jpg”
  • “Create a simple logo idea for a coffee shop called Morning Brew”

What it gives back to you

You get an image back in the chat, ready to look at or save. If you asked to change a picture, you get the new version. The service also uses credits from your Nanana account each time, so you may see a note about that.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Nanana account at nanana.app
  • An API token from your Nanana account dashboard (a kind of password the site gives you)
  • The Claude desktop app or another app that supports MCP servers
  • Node.js installed on your computer

Good to know

Each image uses credits from your Nanana account, so making lots of pictures can use up your balance.
