SheetsData MCP server
by octoco-ltd
Lets your AI look up electronic component specs, pinouts and package info from datasheets without opening a PDF.

SheetsData is a helper that lets your AI answer questions about electronic components, like a chip's pinout, voltage limits, or package type, without you hunting through a PDF. It is handy if you work with hardware, read schematics, or pick parts for a board and want quick answers in plain chat. It is still in public beta, so treat the numbers as a starting point and check the official datasheet for anything critical.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program you connect once, and it gives your AI a new skill or a link to another service. This one links your AI to SheetsData, a service that reads manufacturer datasheets and pulls out the useful parts. After you connect it, you can just ask your AI about a part and it will go fetch the answer for you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like what the pinout of a part is, or whether a chip can handle 12 volts. Your AI sends that request to the SheetsData helper instead of guessing. The helper looks up the part in SheetsData's extracted datasheet data and pulls the section you need, such as pinout, electrical specs, or package info. It sends the result back, and your AI shows it to you in the chat as a table, a short answer, or a pass and fail check. You never open or upload a PDF yourself.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Look up a component's pinout, electrical specs, or package details by part number
- Search for parts using plain words, like a low-noise regulator with high ripple rejection
- Compare two to five parts side by side on real datasheet specs
- Check whether your operating conditions fit inside a part's limits and get a pass or fail
- Find alternative or second-source parts based on specs, package, or stock
- Ask your AI to explain a graph or pin diagram from a datasheet image
- Request an upload link when SheetsData does not have a datasheet yet
Try asking your AI
- “What is the pinout of the TPS54302?”
- “Can this regulator handle 12 volts in and 2 amps out?”
- “Find me a low-noise LDO with PSRR above 70dB that is in stock”
- “Compare the STM32G030 and STM32G031 on package and electrical specs”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat, usually as a short table or a few lines of text. For example, a pinout comes back as a list of pins and their names, and a design check comes back as PASS, FAIL, or WARNING for each parameter. Searches return a ranked list of parts with pricing and stock where available. If you ask it to compare parts, you get a side-by-side view.
Before you start
What you need
- A SheetsData account (free signup with some free credits)
- An MCP client that supports remote servers, like Claude Desktop, Cursor, or VS Code
- Either OAuth (just click Connect) or an API key from your SheetsData dashboard
Good to know
The data is extracted automatically and may contain errors, so always verify critical specs against the official manufacturer datasheet before you design, buy, or build anything.
Install it with your AI
Add SheetsData MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check SheetsData MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Hardware engineers, electronics hobbyists, and anyone who picks parts or reads datasheets and wants quick answers without opening PDFs.
