Pathrule is a place where teams keep shared notes, rules and skills for their AI coding helpers. This MCP server connects your AI chat to your Pathrule workspace in the cloud, so it can look things up and save new notes for you. It is handy if your team already uses Pathrule and you want your AI to work with that same information.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Pathrule, your team's shared memory for coding projects. Once connected, your AI can look up your team's notes and rules, and save new ones, when you ask it to.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about your project, like what rules your team follows. Your AI sends that request to this helper, which talks to your Pathrule workspace in the cloud. Pathrule checks that you are signed in and that you allowed this access, then sends back the matching notes, rules or skills. Your AI shows you the answer in the chat, and if you ask it to save something, it writes that back to Pathrule for your team. It only works with Pathrule cloud data, not files on your computer.

What you can do with it

  • Look up the shared notes and rules your team keeps for a project
  • Read a specific skill your team wrote for your AI helper
  • Save a new note or rule into your Pathrule workspace
  • Update or remove a note, rule or skill you no longer need
  • See the list of workspaces your account can access
  • Take a snapshot of your workspace so you have a saved copy
  • Check for pending refreshes and log activity in your workspace

What it gives back to you

You get answers in plain chat: lists of workspaces, notes, rules or skills, and the text of any item you asked to read. When you save or change something, your AI tells you what it did, like which note was updated. Snapshots and activity lists come back as simple summaries. Nothing is shown as code or files, just readable text in the conversation.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Pathrule account (you can create one free at app.pathrule.io)
  • A Pathrule workspace set up in the app
  • An MCP client that supports remote servers and sign-in, like the Claude desktop app

Good to know

This server can change and delete your team's shared notes, rules and skills, so check before you let your AI save or remove anything.

Install it with your AI

Add Pathrule MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Pathrule MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
