ScamVerify MCP server

by scamverifyai

Ask your AI to check a phone number, link, text, email, document or QR code for scam signs.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Is this phone number a scam? +1 555 010 2233”, the ScamVerify MCP server connects it to ScamVerify, and you get back risk score and a simple verdict.

ScamVerify is a helper that lets your AI look up whether a phone number, website link, text message, email, document or QR code looks like a scam. It checks big public complaint lists and threat databases, then gives you a risk score and a plain verdict. It is handy for anyone who gets odd calls, texts or emails and wants a second opinion before clicking or replying.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another service. This one connects your AI to ScamVerify, a scam-checking service. So when you ask about a strange number or link, your AI can actually look it up there and bring the answer back to you.

What this MCP server does

You paste a phone number, link, text, email, document photo or QR code picture into the chat and ask your AI to check it. Your AI sends that to the ScamVerify helper, which looks it up against complaint records and threat lists. ScamVerify compares what it finds, like carrier details, domain age or known bad links, and works out a risk score from 0 to 100. Then your AI explains the result to you in normal words, with the warning signs it spotted. You can also check many numbers or links at once if you have a longer list.

What you can do with it

  • Check a phone number for scam reports and robocall flags
  • Check a website link for safety before you click it
  • Analyze a text message for scam wording and hidden links
  • Analyze an email for phishing signs and fake sender details
  • Check a document photo for fake addresses or officials
  • Scan a QR code picture and check where it leads
  • Check up to 100 phone numbers or links in one go

Try asking your AI

  • “Is this phone number a scam? +1 555 010 2233”
  • “Check this link before I open it: http://example-deal-now.com”
  • “Does this text look like a scam? You have won a prize, call now”
  • “Is this email phishing? It says it is from my bank and asks me to log in”

What it gives back to you

You get a risk score from 0 to 100 and a simple verdict, like safe, suspicious or likely scam. Your AI also lists the warning signs it found, such as many complaints, a young website, or a link that is known to be bad. For batches, you get a short result for each number or link. Everything shows up as normal text in your chat, so you can read it and decide what to do.

Before you start

What you need

  • A ScamVerify account (the free tier gives 50 lookups a month)
  • An API key from ScamVerify, or you can sign in with OAuth instead
  • An AI app that supports MCP servers, like Claude Desktop or ChatGPT

Good to know

The checks are based on public complaint lists and threat databases, so a low score is not a guarantee that something is safe, and you should still use your own judgement before clicking, replying or sending money.
