Science AI Journal MCP server

by SelfPy

Let your AI check a paper's acceptance odds, find research gaps, and pick target journals for you.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “What are my chances of getting this paper accepted?”, the Science AI Journal MCP server connects it to Science AI Journal, and you get back A tier and a chance.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to the Science AI Journal, a website with tools for academic papers. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI things like whether your abstract looks strong enough or which journals might fit your work. It is handy for researchers, students, and anyone writing or reviewing papers.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to the Science AI Journal, so it can look up things there and run its paper tools for you. You just ask in plain words, and the helper does the work behind the scenes.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about your paper, like whether it might get accepted. The AI passes your request to this helper, which talks to the Science AI Journal website. The website runs the tool, for example checking your title and abstract or searching for similar papers. The result comes back and your AI shows it to you in the chat, as a number, a list, or a short report.

What you can do with it

  • Estimate the acceptance tier of a paper from its title and abstract
  • Check whether your paper looks like a duplicate of something already published
  • Get a ranked list of journals that might fit your work
  • Find research gaps and key papers around a topic
  • Run an AI peer review pass on a prepared prompt
  • Start and check the Article Writer pipeline

Try asking your AI

  • “Here is my title and abstract. What tier of acceptance probability does it get?”
  • “Check if this paper has already been published somewhere.”
  • “Which journals should I target for this abstract?”
  • “Find research gaps around using AI for climate modelling.”

What it gives back to you

You get answers right in the chat. That can be a tier number and probability, a list of journals with notes about predatory ones, a set of research gaps with key papers, or a peer review style report. For the Article Writer, you get a pipeline status you can check again later.

Before you start

What you need

  • A free Science AI Journal account
  • An API key from Science AI Journal (a kind of password for apps; you generate it in your account settings and only see it once)
  • Node.js 20 or newer on your computer
  • The Claude desktop app or another MCP-enabled app like Cursor or Cline

Good to know

Some tools use credits from your Science AI Journal account, so check your balance before running them, and the duplicate check and journal suggestions are helpful hints, not final decisions.

Install it with your AI
