This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to Replicate, a website that runs lots of creative AI models. Once it is hooked up, you can just describe what you want in normal words and your assistant will pick a model, run it, and hand you back the finished file. It is handy for anyone who makes pictures, clips, voiceovers or songs and would rather not click through a model website.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another service. This one connects your AI to Replicate, so when you ask for a picture or a voice clip, the AI can actually go and make it for you. You do not need to understand how it works. You just talk to your assistant like always.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI for something in plain words, like a picture of a fox or a short song. Your AI reads your request, picks a suitable model from Replicate, and sends the job through this helper. The helper waits until the job is finished instead of making you check back later. Then it downloads the result to your computer and shows it in the chat. For text answers, like a transcription or a description of an image, it just gives you the words back.

What it gives back to you
You get the finished thing back in your chat: an image, a video, a song, a voice clip or a 3D file. Files are saved on your computer in a folder under your Downloads, and the chat also shows a preview or a link so you can look at it right away. For text jobs, like a transcription or an image description, the words appear directly in the reply. You also see the original Replicate link in case you want to share it.
Before you start
What you need
- A Replicate account with an API token (a kind of password for apps; Replicate gives you one for free on its account page)
- Node.js version 20 or newer
- An MCP client, such as the Claude desktop app, Cursor, or the claude.ai web app
Good to know
Every job you run uses your Replicate account and can cost real money, so check the cost estimate before starting something big or running lots of jobs at once.
