Discord MCP server (Discp)

by SharimAli

Lets your AI read and manage your Discord servers, channels, messages, roles and members for you.

Discp is a helper program that connects your AI assistant to Discord. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI in plain words to do things in your Discord servers, like posting a message, making a new channel, or checking who has a certain role. It is handy for anyone who runs or helps run a Discord community and wants to save time.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to Discord, so it can look things up there or make changes for you when you ask. You stay in charge: the AI only does what you tell it to do.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about Discord, like "post a welcome message in #general". The AI passes your request to Discp, which is running quietly on your computer. Discp talks to Discord using your account and carries out the action. Then it sends the result back to your AI, which shows it to you in the chat. It covers a lot of ground: servers, channels, messages, roles, members, invites, polls, threads, forums and more.

What you can do with it

  • Send, edit, delete and pin messages in your channels
  • Create and organise channels, categories, threads and forums
  • Create, edit and assign roles, and set channel permissions
  • Look up members, search for people, and set nicknames
  • Kick, ban, unban or time out members when needed
  • Create invites, polls, scheduled events and webhooks
  • Find decorative symbols and layouts to make your server look nice

Try asking your AI

  • “Post a friendly welcome message in the #general channel”
  • “Create a new text channel called announcements and put it under the Info category”
  • “Who are the members with the Moderator role right now?”
  • “Make a poll in #chat asking which game night works best this weekend”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat, in plain words. For example, a list of channels, a list of members, the details of a role, or a short confirmation that a message was sent or a channel was created. When it reads messages, it shows you the text and who wrote them. When it changes something, it tells you what it did.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js installed on your computer (the README shows version steps)
  • A Discord account token, either from a normal account or a bot account
  • The server ID of the Discord server you want to work with (optional, but helpful)

Good to know

It can change or delete things in your Discord servers and act as your account, and using a normal account this way goes against Discord's rules, so use it carefully and at your own risk.

Install it with your AI

Add Discord MCP server (Discp) to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Discord MCP server (Discp), install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,361 MCP servers here for you.
