Public Browser is a helper that lets your AI assistant actually use a Chrome browser. Instead of just talking about a web page, your AI can open it, read it, click buttons, and fill in forms. It is handy if you want your AI to do simple web tasks for you without you touching the browser yourself.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot see or touch a web page. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, and this one gives it a connection to Chrome. Once it is connected, you can ask your AI to open a page or fill a form, and it will use this helper to do it in a real browser window.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like open a page and fill in a form. Your AI sends that request to this helper program. The helper starts Chrome, opens the page, and reads what is on it, including buttons and fields. It then clicks or types where needed and sends the result back to your AI. You see the answer in your chat, and you can watch Chrome do the work on your screen.

What you can do with it

  • Open a web page in Chrome and read what is on it
  • Click buttons and links on a page
  • Type text into fields and fill in forms
  • Read lists of clickable items on a page
  • Run several steps in one go, like open, fill, and submit
  • Check what changed on the page after an action
  • Work with pages that use iframes or shadow content

Try asking your AI

  • “Open mcp-test.second-truth.com, read the page, and fill the contact form with Name Test User and Email test@example.com”
  • “Go to example.com and tell me what the main heading says”
  • “Open our company login page and type my email into the email field”
  • “Find the search box on this site, type running shoes, and click search”

What it gives back to you

You get back plain answers in your chat, like a short summary of what is on the page or a list of clickable items. When it clicks or types, it tells you what changed, such as new text appearing or a field being filled. If something did not work, it says so clearly instead of pretending it did. You can also watch Chrome open and move on your screen while it works.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js installed on your computer (the free program that runs this helper)
  • Google Chrome installed
  • An MCP client like Claude Code, Cursor, or Cline

Good to know

It can click and type on real websites, so it may submit forms or change things on your accounts, and it can read whatever page it opens.

Install it with your AI

Add Public Browser MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Public Browser MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step.
