sthan.io MCP server
by sthan-io
Let your AI check, split up, and find US addresses, plus look up where an IP address is.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to sthan.io, a service that knows about US addresses. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI things like whether an address is real, what the parts of an address are, or where a place is on a map. It is handy if you work with addresses, mailings, or customer locations.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to sthan.io, so it can look up US addresses and IP locations for you. You just ask in normal words, and the AI uses this helper behind the scenes.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about an address or an IP address. The AI sends that question to this helper program. The helper talks to the sthan.io service, which checks real US postal records. Then the answer comes back into your chat, like whether an address is deliverable or what the coordinates are.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Check if a US address is real and deliverable
- Break a messy address into clean parts like street, city, state, and ZIP
- Suggest full addresses as you type a partial one
- Suggest US cities or ZIP codes from a few letters
- Turn an address into latitude and longitude
- Turn coordinates back into the nearest street address
- Look up the country, city, and timezone of an IP address
Try asking your AI
- “Is 123 Main St, New York, NY 10001 a real, deliverable address?”
- “Parse this address: apt 2b 500 broadway new york ny”
- “What are the coordinates of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, Washington DC?”
- “Where is IP 8.8.8.8 located?”
What it gives back to you
You get answers right in the chat. For an address check, you get a yes or no plus a cleaned-up version with ZIP+4 and whether it is a home or a business. For geocoding, you get latitude and longitude with an accuracy note. For IP lookups, you get country, region, city, timezone, and postal code.
Before you start
What you need
- A free sthan.io account
- An API key from sthan.io (a kind of password for apps; you get one free from their dashboard, no credit card)
- An AI client that supports MCP, like Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, or Windsurf
- Node.js installed if you set it up manually (the one-click install handles this for you)
Good to know
Address checks and parsing can sometimes take up to about two minutes, so if your AI client gives up too soon you may need to raise its waiting time.
