CloakBrowser MCP server

by swimmwatch

Let your AI drive a real web browser: open pages, click, type, and read what is on screen.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Open example.com and tell me the headline”, on your own computer the CloakBrowser MCP server works with A real web browser, and you get back what the page said or did.

This is a helper that gives your AI its own web browser. You ask in plain words, and the AI opens pages, clicks buttons, fills in forms, and tells you what it found. It is handy if you want your AI to look things up on sites or do small repetitive tasks on the web for you.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot open a website or click anything. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill. This one gives your AI a browser, so it can go to a page, look around, and do things there when you ask.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like "check the price of this item on that site". The AI passes that request to this helper. The helper opens a real browser window and moves around the page for you: it clicks, types, scrolls, and reads. Then it sends the result back to your AI, and your AI tells you what it saw or did.

What you can do with it

  • Open a web page and read what is on it
  • Click buttons and follow links
  • Fill in forms and type into fields
  • Take a screenshot of a page
  • Scroll through a long page to find something
  • Keep you logged in on a site between sessions
  • Load a Chrome extension into the browser

Try asking your AI

  • “Open example.com and tell me the headline at the top of the page”
  • “Go to this shop page and check if the item is in stock”
  • “Fill in the contact form on this site with my name and email”
  • “Take a screenshot of my dashboard and describe what you see”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat: a summary of what the page said, the text you asked for, or a confirmation that a click or form fill worked. It can also hand back a screenshot image. If something did not work, your AI will usually tell you what it saw instead.

Before you start

What you need

  • The Claude desktop app, Codex CLI, or another AI app that supports MCP servers
  • Node.js version 22.13 or newer (or version 24 and up) if you use the npx way
  • Docker if you prefer to run it in a container instead

Good to know

It can click, type, and change things on real websites, and it may stay logged in to sites you use, so be careful with pages that involve money or private data.
