VictoriaMetrics MCP server
Lets your AI read and write time series data in a VictoriaMetrics database for you.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to VictoriaMetrics, a database that stores numbers over time, like server traffic or temperature readings. It is handy if you already keep metrics in VictoriaMetrics and want to ask questions about them in plain chat instead of clicking through dashboards. You do not need to be a developer to use it, but someone on your team usually sets it up first.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a little helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another app. This one connects your AI to your VictoriaMetrics database, so when you ask a question, the AI can actually go look up the numbers there and come back with an answer. Think of it as giving your assistant a key to the metrics room.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something about your metrics, like how much traffic a service got last hour. The AI uses this helper, and the helper talks to your VictoriaMetrics database using a query language called PromQL. VictoriaMetrics sends the numbers back, and the helper hands them to the AI. The AI then explains the result to you in normal words, or writes new data into the database if you ask it to.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Ask for the current value of a metric
- Look at how a metric changed over a time range
- List all the label names in your database
- See all the values for one specific label
- Write new data points into VictoriaMetrics
- Import metrics in Prometheus format
Try asking your AI
- “What is the current value of up for my web server?”
- “Show me the CPU usage of my app over the last hour”
- “List all the label names in my VictoriaMetrics database”
- “What values does the job label have?”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat. Sometimes that is a single number, sometimes a list of labels or values, and sometimes a table of data points over time that the AI will summarize for you. If you asked it to write data, it will confirm that the write went through.
Before you start
What you need
- A running VictoriaMetrics database you can reach
- The web address of that database (the VM_URL)
- Node.js installed on your computer if you run it with npx
Good to know
It can write new data into your VictoriaMetrics database, so be careful with any request that adds or changes data.
Install it with your AI
Add VictoriaMetrics MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check VictoriaMetrics MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who already uses VictoriaMetrics and wants to check metrics by chatting instead of opening a dashboard, like support engineers, ops staff, or analysts.
