AI agent for grant writers

Fellowship and Funding Calendar Agent

Give the person a current, eligible list of funding opportunities with a dated task plan for each application.

Fellowship and Funding Calendar Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Fellowships, grants and residencies are announced on many sites, with different eligibility rules and deadlines, and many writers only learn of them after the date. This agent searches the sources the person chooses on a schedule, reads each opportunity, and checks eligibility against the person's project, career stage, location and needs. It keeps those that fit, then builds a task list working back from each deadline: statement, references, budget, samples. Each week it checks task progress, flags tasks falling behind, and rechecks the opportunity page for date changes. It never submits anything. The person approves each submission and any request to referees. Edge case: a deadline that moves earlier triggers an immediate alert and a new task plan.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

It keeps an opportunity only if every hard eligibility rule is met. It ranks the kept ones by fit, award size and effort, and flags tasks as behind when they are over a quarter late against plan.

  • Drop an opportunity if any hard rule fails
  • Alert at once if a deadline moves earlier
  • Flag a task behind if it is over 25% late
  • Limit active applications to the number the person sets

An example run

What happensIn a weekly scan, the agent found 14 funds and kept 5 that fit a historian with a book project. A research grant due 30 November needed 3 letters and a budget. At the Friday check the budget task was 4 days late, so it alerted the person and moved the letter requests earlier. The person approved the submission on 26 November.
