AllNewsAPI MCP server
by AllNewsAPI
Lets your AI search news articles and pull top headlines from around the world, right in the chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to AllNewsAPI, a service that collects news from many publishers worldwide. Once it is set up, you can just ask your AI for news and it will go fetch it for you. It is handy for anyone who keeps an eye on the news for work, like marketing, comms, research or sales teams.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to AllNewsAPI, a news database. So when you ask about a topic, your AI can actually look it up there instead of guessing.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like "what is happening with electric cars this week". Your AI passes that request to this helper. The helper talks to AllNewsAPI, which searches its news sources for matching articles. The results come back to your AI, which then shows them to you in the chat as a list of articles with titles, dates and links. If you want, you can also ask it to check how much of your AllNewsAPI quota you have left.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Search news articles by keyword
- Pull the top headlines for a country or category
- Filter results by date range, language or country
- Find articles with a positive, negative or neutral tone
- Look for news that mentions a specific person, company or place
- Check your AllNewsAPI plan and remaining quota
Try asking your AI
- “Get me the latest technology news from the US”
- “Find articles about climate change from European sources”
- “Show me top business headlines from the past week”
- “Find positive news about renewable energy”
- “Check my API usage and remaining quota”
What it gives back to you
You get back a list of news articles, usually with the title, publisher, date and a short description. If the article has extra details available, you may also see a sentiment score, named entities and a short AI summary. Sometimes you just get a plain answer, like your remaining quota number. Everything shows up right in the chat, so you can read it or ask follow-up questions.
Before you start
What you need
- An AllNewsAPI account and API key (a kind of password for apps; you get one for free at allnewsapi.com)
- An AI app that supports MCP, like Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code or Windsurf
- Node.js if you want to run it locally with npx (the hosted option needs nothing installed)
Good to know
Some filters like country, category and publisher only work on a paid AllNewsAPI plan, and every search uses up part of your quota, so keep an eye on your usage.
