ComparEdge is a helper that gives your AI assistant up to date pricing and plan details for software tools. It covers 494 SaaS and AI products, from Notion and Slack to AI coding assistants and CRMs. It is handy if you often compare tools, check what something costs, or look for a cheaper option.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat using what it already learned, and that knowledge gets old. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service. This one connects your AI to the ComparEdge catalog of software pricing and plans. So when you ask about a tool's cost or alternatives, the AI can look it up live instead of guessing.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question about software pricing or tools, like what Slack costs for 40 people. The AI sends that request to this helper. The helper looks it up in the ComparEdge catalog, which is checked against vendor pricing pages. Then the AI shows you the plans, prices and details in the chat. It is all read only, so nothing gets changed anywhere.

What you can do with it

  • Look up current pricing and plans for a specific tool
  • Compare two tools side by side on price and features
  • Find alternatives to a tool you want to leave
  • List all tools in a category with a pricing overview
  • See top rated tools in a category or overall
  • Search for tools by name, keyword or use case
  • Check if a tool still has a free plan or a trial

Try asking your AI

  • “How much does Slack cost for a team of 40 on annual billing?”
  • “Find me a CRM under $20 per user that still has a real free plan.”
  • “I want to leave Salesforce. What do people switch to, and what does the move cost?”
  • “Compare Notion and Coda plan by plan.”

What it gives back to you

You get back lists, prices, plan details and short comparisons, written into your chat. For example, it can show every plan for a tool with the price, billing period and features, plus whether there is a free plan or trial. It can also rank alternatives or top tools by rating. Everything is text you can read and copy.

Before you start

What you need

  • An MCP client like Claude Desktop, Cursor or VS Code with Copilot
  • Node.js installed on your computer (the setup uses npx)

Good to know

The data is read only and does not change anything, but prices can still change on the vendor side, so double check before you buy.
