PYTHIA Oracle MCP server

by eyloni

Your AI can ask an oracle for a sideways answer when you are stuck on a creative problem.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “I keep rewriting the same proposal. What am I not seeing?”, the PYTHIA Oracle MCP server connects it to PYTHIA Oracle, and you get back A short reading in your chat.

PYTHIA Oracle is a small online helper that your AI assistant can talk to when you want a fresh angle on a problem. You type a question, your AI sends it to the oracle, and you get back a short, strange answer that names the trap you are stuck in. It is handy for anyone who keeps circling the same idea and wants a nudge out of it.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something outside the chat. This one connects your AI to the PYTHIA Oracle, a service that returns short readings for creative problems. Once it is connected, your AI can send your question to the oracle and bring the answer back into your conversation.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question, ideally the real one that is bothering you, not the polite version. Your AI passes it to the PYTHIA Oracle through a single tool called consult_oracle. The oracle looks at your question, picks a kind of seed, and writes back a short reading. Your AI shows you that reading in the chat, as plain text. You can then ask follow-up questions or just sit with the answer for a while.

What you can do with it

  • Ask for a fresh angle when a problem feels stuck
  • Get a short reading that names the trap you are in
  • Send extra context about what you already tried
  • Use the same agent_id so your readings stay linked to you
  • Try it three times for free before any payment is needed
  • Ask the same question again later and compare the readings

Try asking your AI

  • “I keep rewriting the same proposal and it never feels right. What am I not seeing?”
  • “My team agrees on the plan but nothing moves. Ask the oracle what is really going on.”
  • “I have tried five ways to fix this bug. Ask the oracle what structure I am trapped in.”
  • “Consult the oracle with this question: what am I avoiding by staying busy?”

What it gives back to you

You get back a short reading, usually one or two sentences, plus a label for the kind of seed the oracle used. It arrives as plain text in your chat, so you can read it, copy it, or ask your AI to explain it further. There is no list, no file, and no change made anywhere. Just words to think about.

Before you start

What you need

  • An AI app that supports MCP servers, like Claude Desktop or Cursor
  • The PYTHIA server address, which is the only setup you need
  • Nothing else for the first three readings per agent_id

Good to know

After your first three free readings per agent_id, each reading costs $0.025 in USDC on Base, so only set up payment if you want to keep going.
