GateOnAI MCP server
by giorgio44
Lets your AI search and compare thousands of AI tools and build step-by-step workflows from the GateOnAI catalog.
This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to GateOnAI, an online catalog of thousands of AI tools. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI things like which tool fits a task or how to build a workflow, and it looks the answers up in the GateOnAI database for you. It is handy for anyone who keeps hearing about new AI tools and wants a simpler way to find the right one.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to GateOnAI, a catalog of thousands of AI tools. So when you ask a question about AI tools, your AI can look things up there and bring you back real answers instead of guessing.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about AI tools, like which one is best for editing videos. Your AI passes that question to this helper, which searches the GateOnAI catalog. The helper sends back matching tools with their descriptions, pricing, scores and links. Your AI then turns that into a clear answer for you in the chat. You can also ask it to compare tools, build a workflow, or find prompts for your job.
What you can do with it
- Search thousands of AI tools by name, use case, category or price
- Compare two or three AI tools side by side
- Build a step-by-step AI workflow for your job or goal
- Get ready-to-use prompts for a specific profession
- See which AI tools are trending right now
- Find tools whose providers mention GDPR or EU hosting
- See AI tools that were recently added to the catalog
Try asking your AI
- “Find me the best free AI tools for video editing”
- “Build me an AI workflow for a freelance graphic designer”
- “Compare ChatGPT vs Claude”
- “Give me 5 ready-to-use prompts for a marketing manager”
What it gives back to you
You get back a written answer in your chat, usually a short list of tools with their names, what they do, pricing, a score and a link to each one. Comparisons come back as a side-by-side view of pricing, strengths and best fit. Workflows come back as an ordered list of steps, each matched to a tool, plus a shareable link. Some answers also include a link to the GateOnAI page so you can read more.
