RSS Aggregator MCP server
by imprvhub
Lets your AI read your RSS feeds and pull the latest articles right into the chat.

This is a small helper that connects Claude Desktop to RSS feeds you already follow. RSS is the simple list of new articles that news sites and blogs publish, and most readers can export that list as a file. If you like keeping up with news or blogs and want your AI to read them with you, this is for you.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill. This helper gives it a connection to your RSS feeds, so it can look up the newest articles from the sites you follow. You ask in plain words, and the helper fetches the articles and hands them back to your AI.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like what is new in my tech feeds. The AI passes that request to this helper. The helper opens the feed list file you set up and reads the newest articles from those sites. It formats the titles, short snippets, and links, and sends them back into your chat. Then your AI can summarise them, sort them, or answer follow-up questions about them.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- List all your configured feeds grouped by category
- Get the newest articles across all your feeds at once
- Pull the latest posts from one specific feed
- Filter articles by category, like Tech News or Science
- Limit how many articles come back, from 1 to 50
- Ask follow-up questions about the articles in the chat
- Import your existing subscriptions from an OPML file
Try asking your AI
- “What are the latest news on Hacker News?”
- “Show me the top 20 articles across all my feeds”
- “What's new in my Tech News category today?”
- “Give me the last 10 posts from TechCrunch and summarise them”
What it gives back to you
You get a list of articles in the chat, each with a title, a short snippet, and a link. If you asked for a category or one feed, the list is narrowed to that. Your AI can then summarise the themes or compare how different sources covered the same story. Everything is just text in the conversation, so you can keep asking questions about it.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js 20 or higher installed on your computer
- The Claude Desktop app
- An internet connection to reach the feeds
- A feeds file in OPML or JSON format (a sample is included if you don't have one)
Good to know
The helper reads your feeds file from your computer and fetches articles over the internet, so keep your feeds file path correct and only point it at feeds you trust.
