Lians MCP server

by Lians-ai

Give your AI a local memory that remembers project facts, corrects old ones, and forgets on request.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Remember this project uses Python 3.12 and pytest”, on your own computer the Lians MCP server works with lians memory, and you get back your AI remembers your project.

Lians is a memory helper for AI coding tools. It lets your AI save small project facts, recall them in a new chat, correct them when things change, and delete them when you ask. It is handy if you use Codex, Claude Code, or Cursor and keep losing context between sessions.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you in the current window. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something outside the chat. This one connects your AI to a local memory store on your own computer, so it can save facts and look them up later. You stay in your normal AI tool; the helper runs quietly in the background.

What this MCP server does

You tell your AI something worth remembering, like which Python version your project uses. The AI passes that fact to Lians, which saves it in a small local database file on your computer. Later, in a fresh chat, you ask a question and the AI asks Lians to recall matching facts. Lians sends back the current version of the fact, and the AI uses it in its answer. If a fact changes, you can correct it, and Lians keeps the old version as history instead of pretending it never existed.

What you can do with it

  • Save a project fact so a future chat can find it
  • Recall saved facts by asking a normal question
  • List everything your AI has remembered for a project
  • Correct a fact when the project changes
  • Forget a fact permanently when you ask
  • Recover context in a new chat without replaying the whole conversation

Try asking your AI

  • “Remember that this project uses Python 3.12 and pytest.”
  • “What Python version and test runner should I use here?”
  • “We switched from /v1/orders to /v2/orders. Update that memory.”
  • “Forget the note about the old database password.”

What it gives back to you

You get short answers in the chat, built from the facts Lians has stored. When you recall, you see the current fact, and Lians can also show what changed and when. When you list memories, you get a simple list of saved items. When you correct or forget, you get a short confirmation that the change was made.

Before you start

What you need

  • The uv tool installed on your computer (a small helper for running Python programs)
  • An AI tool that supports MCP, such as Codex, Claude Code, or Cursor
  • No account or API key needed for the free local memory path

Good to know

Lians stores project facts in a local file on your computer, so avoid saving passwords, keys, or anything private you would not want written to disk.

Install it with your AI

Add Lians MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Lians MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
