This is a small helper that lets your AI assistant make invoices for you. You describe the invoice in normal words, and it builds the numbers and, if you want, a finished PDF file or a UBL file. It is handy for freelancers, small business owners, and anyone who sends bills and does not want to fight with a spreadsheet.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program you connect to your AI, and it gives the AI one new skill. This helper gives your AI the skill of making invoices, by talking to the Invovate invoice service behind the scenes. So when you ask for an invoice, your AI passes the details to this helper, and the helper does the actual work.

What this MCP server does

You tell your AI what the invoice is for, who it is from, who it is to, and the prices. The AI passes those details to this helper, which sends them to the Invovate invoice service. The service works out the subtotal, discounts, tax, shipping, deposit, grand total and balance due. If you asked for a PDF or a UBL file, it builds that too and hands back a link or a file. You get the finished result right in your chat.

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat: numbers like subtotal, tax and grand total, or a short summary of the invoice you asked for. When you ask for a PDF, you get a hosted link you can open or share, or a file saved on your computer if you asked for that. For UBL, you get an XML file. The helper also tells you what went wrong if something is missing.

Before you start

What you need

The Claude desktop app, Cursor, Windsurf, or another app that can use MCP helpers
Node.js installed on your computer (the helper is started with a tool called npx)
A free Invovate API key for PDF and UBL files (a kind of password for apps; you sign up at invovate.com/auth and it starts with inv_)

Good to know

The PDF links stop working after 7 days and the invoice is deleted then, so save the file if you need it longer; also, the UBL file is for record keeping only and is not a regulated e-invoice.
